Jesse's blog

First post

I just found Bearblog and it seems really cool. I've wanted to make a website for quite a while, but this just cuts out the crap. Hosting is taken care of, and I have a very simple interface to edit and update. I'm sure if I did it myself I'd get frustrated with some trivial detail, like closing HTML tags or deciding on a hosting provider. I'd probably never finish at all.

So this is a great start.

I've many interests and hopefully that will be reflected here. Ideally posts will be tagged, so that those with a narrow interest in any one of these categories will easily find the pertinent content.

I also want to figure out what the "Is page" check box means when making a new blog post. We'll start this one as a "page", but if I don't like what that ends up meaning it's subject to change.

Sorry for such a boring first post, I promise things will get more interesting (or they won't, but we all love an empty promise).

Edit: Okay I've figured it out. If you mark a post "Is page" then it will not show up on the "blog" page. So I could make a "resume" page and link it in the navbar, but it wouldn't show up as a blog post, for example. Nifty. We'll keep this one a post.

Edit 2: Impressively I have a minus toast on this post. I assume that's not the default and there's someone or some bot out there taking my toast. That's ok, I like to bake bread and sometimes even toast it. Soon there's gonna be more toast then we'll know what to do with.

Edit 3: If you made it this far, I feel obligated to inform you that there are no minus toasts. Perhaps a colon would have been a better delimiter
